Expert Advice - Choose the Perfect Tile

on the three basic types of tile flooring: ceramic,

porcelain, and stone.

Types of Tile

There are three main types of tile including stone, porcelain and ceramic tile. Although porcelain and ceramic tiles are made from the same materials, porcelain is denser and more resistant to heat and moisture. Ceramic tiles are light-weight and easy on your budget, and are available in an array of vibrant and neutral colours. Porcelain tiles are more durable, so they can tend to be heavier and can withstand a lot of foot traffic. Types of porcelain tile are also resistant to moisture they are a good option for three season rooms and even as an outdoor patio. Stone tile is a unique and high-end option we offer in our showroom. Stone slabs are quarried from different locations, so no two tiles will look the same. Stone can be installed inside and outside of your home.

Where can Tile be Installed?

Since tiles are easy to clean and come in moisture resistant options, they are usually installed in kitchens and bathrooms. Tile is such a versatile product though, that it can also be installed in areas like laundry rooms, entryways, as well as your basement. More durable tiles like stone and porcelain can be installed outside around your home as a patio or walkway.

We also offer a selection of wall tile, backsplash tile, and shower tile. Take your design skills to the next level by adding a backsplash or custom tile accent wall in your home. You can even customize your bathroom by installing a tiled shower, which adds style and even value to your space.

Wood Look Tile

Wood look flooring happens to be one of the most popular styles in flooring today. Wood look flooring is available in many different options, including tile. Porcelain is one of the most common types of tiles used to produce wood look tiles. Since porcelain is durable and strong, it can be installed in pretty much any room of your home. Wood look tiles use a special process to replicate the image of wood onto the tile itself, and then are embossed in register so it will also feel like a real wood plank. Wood look tiles come in square tile formats but can also come in planks as well for a truly authentic wood look.

Kitchen and Bathroom Tile

Tiles are most common in kitchens and bathrooms because of their resistance to moisture and durability. Accidentally dropping food or spilling water on your tile floors is easy to clean up, and they require less maintenance than most other flooring options. Tiles are not just limited to your floor; you can even install them in your shower and on the wall. Since tiles are installed as individuals, you can easily create your own custom pattern.
